FORMER SAN LEANDRO MAYOR TONY SANTOS
ENDORSES VICE MAYOR BONTA FOR ASSEMBLY

San Leandro, CA – Former San Leandro Mayor Tony Santos today endorsed Alameda Vice Mayor Rob Bonta for California State Assembly in District 18.  Santos had a distinguished career with over 20 years of experience working for the people of San Leandro, first serving four terms on the San Leandro City Council followed by four years as Mayor.

“Rob Bonta will fight for San Leandro families against Sacramento budget cuts that devastate our schools and threaten public safety, which is why I’m proud to endorse him for State Assembly,” said Former Mayor Santos. “He’s worked hard to promote economic development as Vice Mayor of Alameda and we need his local government roots to bring common sense back to Sacramento.”

“I’m honored to receive the endorsement of Former Mayor Santos, who was a strong advocate for the citizens of San Leandro,” said Vice Mayor Bonta. “During these difficult economic times, local governments are forced to do more with less, and I appreciate Tony’s support in our campaign for working families.”

Throughout his career in public service, Vice Mayor Bonta has distinguished himself as a strong advocate for Alameda’s and California’s public schools. He has fought to prevent layoffs of firefighters and police officers, foster economic development, exercise fiscal responsibility, and improve recreation opportunities for families.
